Five
Points Elementary is located in the Western Zone of Dallas County. Five Points
is a rural area near the small town of Orrville. The entire school participates
in the Title-I and Reading Initiative programs.
Five Points
Elementary serves grades three through six. All classrooms are self-contained.
We have approximately 206 students in grades 3-6 this year.

Deficiency Notices:
Deficiency slips will be sent home to parents during the fourth week of each
nine-week grading period. Parents will be kept informed of the
student's progress weekly. |

Report Cards: Report
Cards will be sent home on Thursday following the end of the nine-week
period. Parents are asked to review report cards and sign them before
they are returned to school. If a conference is requested, parents
should call the school secretary to schedule an appointment with the
teacher(s). |

Parent Conferences: All
Parents will be asked to participate in two conferences each year. A
conference will be held the first grading period to discuss course
requirements, expectations, ARMT and SAT 10 results. A second conference
will be conducted the third grading period to review student progress.
The teacher or parent may request conferences at any time. |

Discipline Polices: Five
Points Elementary students are subject to the rules and regulations of the
Dallas County School Board as outlines in the system discipline policy.
Five Points Elementary has developed rules, procedures, and expectation for
students. Teachers will review policies with students as the year
begins. |

School Visitation:
Parents are encouraged to visit school frequently and actively participate
in the education of their child. However, we are requesting that
parents not visit the classroom during the uninterrupted Reading Time
(8:00-10:00 a.m.). Interrupting the class may be disruptive to the
learning environment. |

Dress Code/Consequences of dress code
Violation: Pants, skirt & shorts: Blue or Khaki/Shirt:
Blue, White or Yellow (solid color); 1st offense: the student will
call home for a change of clothes, 2nd offense: The parent will be
called in for a conference, 3rd offense: the student will be sent home
for the day. |

Withdrawals:
Parents should notify the school when they find out they are moving from their
present school zone. All fees should be paid before a student is
cleared for withdrawal. The student's homeroom teacher will start
withdrawal process. |

Check-out Policy:
Parents/Guardians are encouraged to schedule appointments before or
after school hours to avoid disruption of the student's education. A
parent/guardian must come to the main office to sign a student out.
Students will not be permitted to check themselves out of school at any time
during the school day. Identification required when signing a student
out of school (i.e., a driver's license). Students will only be
released to persons listed on the registration card. |

Excused Absences:
Illness, inclement weather, death in the immediate family of the child,
legal requirements such as subpoena or other required court appearance,
legal quarantine, an emergency condition as determined by the principal. |

PTO: All
parents of Five Points Elementary are encouraged to become part of the
Parent Teacher Organization. Remember: PTO is the place to show
support for the school and help it grow. |
